A Freedom Middle School student rode to class in style Tuesday, getting picked up in a limousine with Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward.

David Grove, an eighth-grader, won a sweepstakes to participate in the National Football League's "Take a Player to School" program with Ward.

The Steelers star spoke to Freedom students about the importance of good health and led them in gym activities on Tuesday morning.

"Kids, you know, they're all into the PlayStation and whatnot. I really just try to stress fitness," Ward said.

They skipped rope, played dodge ball and threw a football around. It's part of the NFL Play 60 campaign to help kids get 60 minutes of exercise a day.

In one activity, the kids catch caught passes from Ward and showed him their best touchdown dances.

On his next score, Ward said he might even imitate one girl who did a flip -- "if my body will let me do it."

"He's a cool guy, and today was fun to exercise and do all this," Grove said.

"When an icon like that says to exercise, we all look up to him, so I'm pretty sure I will," student Lexi Hancock said.

"I like to exercise, but probably more now because I look up to him," student Trevor Mesing said.
