Steelers, Sidney Crosby Win ESPY Awards

Both Of Pittsburgh's Championship Teams Were Nominated

Pittsburgh sports fans had a tough decision to make in the fan voting for the 2009 ESPYs.

Both the Super Bowl champion Steelers and the Stanley Cup champion Penguins were nominated for "Best Team" in ESPN's annual sports awards.

In the end, neither team won. The honor went to the NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers.

But the local teams did win three awards:

Best Game: Steelers vs. Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII

Best Play: Ben Roethlisberger's Super Bowl-winning touchdown pass to Santonio Holmes

Best NHL Player: Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins

Fan voting determined the winners. See the results in all categories here.

The awards were handed out Wednesday night at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The ceremony was taped and aired Sunday night on ESPN.
