Steelers Sign Veteran CB Ratliff

POSTED: 8:04 pm EDT April 24, 2009

(Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Steelers reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with veteran cornerback Keiwan Ratliff on Friday.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported the agreement.

Primarily used as a backup throughout his career, Ratliff could challenge William Gay for the starting left corner spot this season after the Steelers lost Bryant McFadden in free agency to Arizona.

Ratliff had two interceptions, with one returned for a touchdown in 13 games, including four starts with Indianapolis last season. He also registered 27 total tackles.

For his career, the former University of Florida product, who was selected in the second round of the 2004 NFL Draft by Cincinnati, has five picks and 134 tackles in 65 games, with 12 of them being starts.
