Browns CB Holly Suffers Serious Knee Injury

POSTED: 1:47 am EDT May 22, 2008

(Sports Network) - Cleveland Browns cornerback Daven Holly could be out for the 2008 season after suffering a serious knee injury during a team mini-camp on Tuesday.

Holly, entering his fourth year in the league, landed awkwardly on his knee after jumping for a ball during Tuesday's organized team activities. Browns general manager Phil Savage said on Wednesday that the injury will require surgery, most likely on Friday.

The 25-year-old Holly was expected to battle for a starting job on the Cleveland defense, but will now likely spend next season on the sidelines. A seventh-round pick in the 2005 draft by the 49ers, the Cincinnati product signed with the Browns prior to the 2006 season, during which he picked off five passes. Last season he had 47 tackles, but no interceptions.

Browns wide receiver Braylon Edwards suffered a hip pointer on the same play, and is listed as day-to-day.
