The state Department of Environmental Protection is now investigating the Kilbuck Township Route 65 landslide and whether explosives played a role.

Nearby neighbors told investigators they heard noises louder than normal.

So far, the department has found no violations of the blasting permit it granted in October 2005.

Officials said despite the rain on Thursday, the cleanup is looking progressive.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said they hope to reopen Route 65 by Oct. 7.
