A woman wound up in jail on Tuesday after grabbing a dog out of a yard near Altoona.

Tammy Grimes said the dog was in terrible shape in East Freedom, Pa.

Grimes even posted video of the 19-year-old German Shepherd-Lab mix on YouTube.com. The dog seemed unable to get up.

Freedom Township police, however, said -- no matter what -- a person can't just take someone's pet.

The move landed Grimes in jail.

The dog's owners say the dog couldn't get up because it was suffering from arthritis. They deny any abuse or mistreatment.

Grimes was released on bond and is scheduled for a hearing later in the week.

The dog is at an undisclosed location.
