2006 PITTSBURGH -- The Port Authority received a green light to construct a connector between the North Shore and downtown.The Federal Transit Administration said the 60-day comment period is now over and the project did not receive any congressional objections, which clears the way for a full-funding agreement.The Port Authority wants to build twin tunnels under the Allegheny River connecting downtown to the north side.Construction could begin in November.
