The Port Authority received a green light to construct a connector between the North Shore and downtown.

The Federal Transit Administration said the 60-day comment period is now over and the project did not receive any congressional objections, which clears the way for a full-funding agreement.

The Port Authority wants to build twin tunnels under the Allegheny River connecting downtown to the north side.

Construction could begin in November.
