Mayor Bob O'Connor was in stable condition at UPMC Shadyside hospital after receiving a third round of intensity modulated radiation therapy on his brain tumors, doctors said.

More than 500 people attended a special mass for the mayor, who is battling a rare form of cancer, on Wednesday night at St. Rosalia in Greenfield.

O'Connor's wife, Judy, said the support of others is helping her family cope.

"When we read the letters to him and read the prayers, and this tonight, when he sees it on television, he's just going to be very happy," she said.

Pittsburghers continued to add their names to a large "Get Well" sign hanging outside the City-County Building downtown on Wednesday.

They're also showing their support by purchasing black-and-gold rubber bracelets that say "Everybody's Mayor ... Bob O'Connor."

The initial shipment of 5,000 wristbands, which cost $2 and benefit the local chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, sold out around the city in just 24 hours.

Another 5,000 will go on sale Friday at seven locations around the city. Click here for a complete list of when and where they can be bought.

Bracelets can also be bought by mail with a printable order form found at www.leukemia-lymphoma.org.
