Ben the horse is alive and well.

Tammy Schweitzer said fireworks scared her horse away last Saturday while they were at Mingo Creek Park in Finleyville, Washington County.

The horse broke free from a trailer and hadn't been seen since, Schweitzer told Channel 4 Action News.

On Wednesday morning, a woman walking in the park said she spotted the horse. She had heard the story about Ben the previous night, so she called out the animal's name and it came up to her.

The horse is well-known locally for having carried banners and flags in the Canonsburg parade the past three years, Schweitzer said.
