Team 4: Airport Security Guard Fired For Comments

On Thursday, Allison Brown was a security supervisor at Pittsburgh International Airport.

She was an employee of Huntleigh USA. On Friday, she was unemployed.

WTAE-TV's Jim Parsons reported that she was fired, reportedly for critical comments or for talking to the media.

Huntleigh USA did not comment.

The company, which is based in the Netherlands, also provides security to 56 airports throughout the world.

"I'm still glad I did it," said Brown. "It needed to come out about the company. It needs to be taken care of."

This is one of the comments Allison made on Wednesday that got her fired: "We go into work every day, just ho-hum, but nobody even thinks about what we're there, supposed to be doing."

A former co-workers supported her allegations on Friday.

"Unfortunately, Huntleigh fired her for no reason in my opinion, except that she said bad things about the company," said James Johnson, another former employee of the company.

"No, it wasn't bad things -- it was the truth; I used to be an employee of Huntleigh."

Johnson, a retired Marine, said that he'd quit in frustration over lax security, low pay and part-time workers.

Parsons reported that they employees made $6.50 an hour, which is less than what the janitors' pay.

County airport authority board member Dave Mayernik agreed, saying there should be a higher standard.
