2006 HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A 14-year-old Westmoreland County boy was shot to death with a gun that belongs to a local state senator, Team 4's Paul Van Osdol reported Monday.State police investigators said Louis Farrell's body was found in the woods behind his parents' Hempfield Township home late Friday night or early Saturday morning.The county coroner has yet to determine whether the fatal wound was self-inflicted or if somebody else shot Farrell.Team 4 reported that the 9 mm handgun used to kill Farrell is registered to state Sen. Bob Regola, who lives next door to the boy's family on Glenmeade Road.There has been no indication that Regola will face charges. A spokesman said the senator was in Harrisburg when the shooting happened.Regola's attorney, Mark Rush, said state police have interviewed Regola and he is cooperating with the investigation.Regola declined to comment."This is a very difficult time with the tragic loss of an outstanding young man. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family," said a statement released by Regola's chief of staff.State police are expected to hold a news conference about the shooting on Tuesday.
