Ben Feeling Better? Tahoe Golf Tourney, Music Video Upcoming

POSTED: 1:35 pm EDT July 7, 2006

The Pittsburgh Steelers aren't saying how quickly quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is recovering from a serious motorcycle accident last month.

But Big Ben is well enough to play golf with celebrities and appear in a music video.

Officials with the American Century Championship, a celebrity tournament in Lake Tahoe said Roethlisberger has committed to play there next weekend.

"Big Ben Roethlisberger will be playing in this year's American Century Championship. The Pittsburgh Steelers QB has confirmed that convalescing from his recent motorcycle accident is not going to keep him from playing in his favorite golf tournament at Lake Tahoe," said a message on tahoecelebritygolf.com.

Also, a spokesman for country music group The PovertyNeck Hillbillies said Roethlisberger will shoot a video with the band on July 18 at Heinz Field.

The Steelers aren't commenting on those reports.

Roethlisberger's agent, Leigh Steinberg, did not immediately return a call to the Associated Press.

Roethlisberger, riding helmetless and unlicensed on a Suzuki Hayabusa, collided with a car on Second Avenue near the 10th Street Bridge last month. He underwent several hours of surgery and spent three days in Mercy Hospital.

Both Roethlisberger and the car driver were issued citations and fined, police said.
