Pittsburgh Steelers’ linebacker Larry Foote asked a Michigan court on Wednesday to award him custody of a 10-year-old son he said he did not know existed until two years ago.

Foote is seeking temporary custody of Trey-Veion Hammond.

He said he decided to go to court after the boy's mother threatened to take the child from him.

The mother said she will fight the request.
