A 67-year-old man and his wife are outraged that the man had a heart attack and no one stopped to help.

Tom Avolio, of Beaver County, suffered a heart scare 10 years ago.

In order to avoid another attack, he said he walked the area trail for exercise in Patterson Township, Beaver County.

On May 22, he was walking alone and suffered a series of heart attacks, Avolio said.

Avolio said he called for help, but none of the walkers stopped to help him.

When he finally got cell phone service, he said he called 911 himself.

The medics arrived and told him a defibrillator implanted in his chest jolted him four times when his heart failed, saving his life.

His wife, Sue, wrote a recent editorial in the paper, thanking medics for saving him and thanking the people who walked at the park that day -- for nothing. (Click here to read the editorial.)

Avolio, who has a son and daughter-in-law fighting in Iraq, is still recovering.
