City police found the rotting corpse of a dog dressed like a young boy behind a home in the Stanton Heights section of Pittsburgh.

The pit bull-boxer mix was clad in a T-shirt, jeans, baseball cap and tennis shoes, and a knife was protruding from its body, police said.

"I've never seen anything like it. I don't know anyone who has," Pittsburgh Police Lt. Kevin Kraus said on Tuesday.

Detectives said they found the animal on the rear porch of a house on Oranmore Street on Monday night. They were in the middle of investigating an assault on a detective who exchanged pepper spray with an angry driver earlier that day.

Also found in the back yard were marijuana plants in plastic planters, police said.

The house appears to be abandoned, and the electricity is shut off, WTAE Channel 4 Action News reporter Gus Rosendale said.

Police eventually located the assault suspect next door. They don't believe that person killed the dog.
