Students, parents and faculty members are remembering a Beaver Area School District teacher who died tragically, along with two of his triplet children.

Spencer Morrison, 37, of Cranberry, Butler County, was killed in a car accident on Route 8 in Richland Township. The wreck also killed 4-year-olds Alaina and Garret, and left their brother Ethan, in critical condition.

On Friday morning, a memorial was held in the Beaver Area High School auditorium.

The staff at the Beaver Area School District, as well as the students who looked up to Morrison told Channel 4 Action News Reporter Marcie Cipriani that they felt that they needed to do something to honor him and his family.

Inside the auditorium, those who knew Morrison shared their stories and their tears quietly as the family’s pastor spoke.

“He gave a brief eulogy then talked a bit about Spencer and the family and about healing and that was really critical for all of us to hear,” said Dr. John Hansen of the Beaver Area School District.

“ He [Morrison] would bring the triplets here to school. He was so proud of them, we were proud of them --they were the little miracles,” said Hansen

Many community members said Morrison touched everyone he met, Patty Piroli’s daughter included.

“My daughter had Mr. Morrison last year and Nikki-- that's my daughter -- spoke highly of him,” said Patty Piroli.

Piroli said that Nikki had a tough time with her former teacher’s death and the death of two of his triplets. She, like so many others expressed herself on the funeral home's Web site .

Nikki Piroli wrote: "I was one of Mr. Morrison's students last year. I remember the 1st day of school; he showed our class a picture of his 3 kids. He was so proud of those kids. He would talk about them all the time. When I found out about the tragedy, I couldn't believe it. I loved him so much as a teacher and I will truly miss him!"

The superintendent acknowledges that it will be some time before the students and faculty heal. But he said it is his goal to make sure they do it together.
