Warrant Issued For Hair Stylist Who Allegedly Helped RunawayPOSTED: 4:56 pm EST March 24,
2006 PITTSBURGH -- On Friday, police issued an arrest warrant for the hairdresser who they said helped a runaway alter her appearance to be with the man who then allegedly kept her behind locked doors for years. In an affidavit, police said that Judy Sokol was interviewed on March 22 and she then said that she "did in fact cut and dye DOE's (Kach's) hair while she was a runaway under the direction and as a favor to both Hose and DOE (Kach)."Sokol said she knew in 1996 that 47-year-old Thomas Hose, 38 years old at the time, and 24-year-old Tanya Kach, 14 years old at the time, were having an "inappropriate relationship," the affidavit said.Hose was a security guard at McKeesport's Cornell Middle School, where Kach attended. That's where police said the two met.To go undetected, Kach said she changed her look -- getting her hair cut and colored. At some point, Sokol was contacted by Children and Youth Services, the affidavit claimed, and then she ended her relationship with both Hose and Kach.Shortly after the two started living together, Kach said Hose threatened he would kill her if she left his bedroom. She said she was so frightened, she never left.In June 2005, police said Kach changed her name to Nikki Allen and started attending church. On Tuesday, Kach confided in Joe Sparico -- the owner of JJ's Deli -- who then called police. She has since been reunited with her father.Hose is being held at the Allegheny County Jail. He's facing a number of charges for statutory sexual assault and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse. They stem from Kach being underage when they began their sexual relationship.Hose's attorney maintains that Hose didn't force Kach to live with him.He is expected in court March 27.
