City police said shell casings from an assault-style rifle were found outside the school, near the intersection of Gerritt and Monticello streets. The shooting also left bullet marks on a wall near the side entrance.Surveillance video from cameras posted outside the school may provide more clues about the shooter and the car, Pittsburgh Police Chief Dom Costa said. The injured 16-year-old has not been identified. He was last reported to be in stable condition at UPMC Presbyterian, with gunshot wounds to the thigh and buttocks.Westinghouse was in a modified lockdown situation, meaning that extra security was placed in and around the building, according to a spokeswoman for Pittsburgh Public Schools.Last week, at an Urban League meeting in Shadyside, Mayor Bob O'Connor announced a new initiative with police to create 1,000-foot "safety zones" around city schools. The Westinghouse shooting happened within the suggested parameters of such zones.
