Police said they seized a pistol from a student who was trying to get into Perry Traditional Academy on the North Side.

The 14-year-old boy and a 13-year-old friend were spotted by school officials who were monitoring security cameras on Tuesday.

Officials said neither teen was a student at Perry, but both were truant from other city schools.

A security aide found a loaded .38-caliber gun in the older boy's waistband.

There is still no word why the teen had the gun.
