POSTED: 4:43 p.m. EDT September 1, 2000

Plans for a new mall off Route 228 have been scrapped following the decision by Nordstrom department store officials not to locate there.

Cranberry officials say that they are disappointed by Nordstrom's decision.

Meanwhile, Pittsburgh mayor Tom Murphy continues trying to convince Nordstrom officials to build a store downtown.

In a recent shake-up, Nordstrom chairman and CEO John Whitacre quit after a drop in the company's earnings.
