One of the three Oil City men accused of the 1992 kidnapping and slaying of a Girl Scout has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.

Prosecutors said as part of the agreement, Eldred Walker, 46, will testify against brothers James and Timothy O'Brien in the death of 11-year-old Shauna Howe.

Walker pleaded guilty Tuesday to third-degree murder and kidnapping, which carries a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.

Prosecutors dropped charges of second-degree murder and criminal conspiracy, which carry a mandatory life term.

Walker told the court that he grabbed Howe from a street corner as she walked home from a Girl Scout Halloween party.

Her body was found three days later under a railroad trestle.
