Katrina Relief: Pittsburgh Responds

UPDATED: 11:58 am EDT September 9, 2005

What relief agencies really need is cash. So far, Pittsburgh viewers have helped to raise more than $1 million in gifts and pledges.

For four days this week, Channel 4 Action News teamed up with the American Red Cross to operate a phone bank in the WTAE-TV studios. Through that effort, you helped raise almost $515,000 for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Then, on Thursday night, Channel 4 teamed with other local television stations for "Katrina Relief: Pittsburgh Responds" -- a one-hour telethon that raised an additional $633,000.

All monies raised go to the Red Cross.

Donate cash to the Red Cross by calling (800) HELP NOW for English or (800) 257-7575 for Spanish.
