Internet service through power lines is coming to western Pennsylvania on an experimental basis, Call 4 Action reporter Meghan Jones said Friday.

Duquesne Broadband, a subsidiary of Duquesne Light, will be available for a monthly fee in two Monroeville neighborhoods. Belmont Ridge and homes at Haymaker and Saunders Station roads will have access starting Aug. 8.

"A customer in Belmont Ridge, for example, could have service at their pool and on their back deck, all with the same Internet connection, because it's a wireless signal," said Mark Rupnik, president of Duquesne Broadband.

Depending on the popularity of the service, Duquesne Broadband said it may expand coverage to other parts of western Pennsylvania.
