Drug Suspect Moved; Doctor Murder Probe ContinuesPOSTED: 1:39 pm EDT May 26, 2005 ALIQUIPPA, Pa. -- One day after evidence was seized from his apartment, a drug suspect who has been labeled a "person of interest" in Dr. Gulam Moonda's death has been moved out of the Beaver County Jail. The warden told Channel 4 Action News reporter Bob Mayo that Damian A. Bradford, 23, was transferred elsewhere because of information developed by Ohio and Pennsylvania investigators. No details about that information were given.Channel 4 Action News has learned that Bradford is now being housed in the Lawrence County Jail. He is in protective custody, segregated from other inmates.Defense attorney Jim Ecker told Mayo that he has no indications that Bradford was in danger. Ecker also said that he hasn't contacted Moonda's wife, Donna, with whom Bradford is alleged to be romantically involved.Dr. Moonda, 65, of Hermitage, was robbed and shot May 13 on the Ohio Turnpike. Bradford faces only minor drug charges with no connection to the killing, but the Ohio Highway Patrol has described him as a person of interest in the case. A bank payment book with Bradford's name and Donna Moonda's maiden name was among several items seized by police who searched an apartment and sport utility vehicle in Center Township on Wednesday.According to an affidavit of probable cause for the searches, police were looking for evidence of a sexual or financial relationship between Donna Moonda and Bradford.Police say the searched SUV is driven by Bradford and listed in the name of Thomas Kase -- a name that also appears on the confiscated bank book.Channel 4 Action News visited Kase's former Aliquippa address Thursday. A neighbor said Kase owed money to people and suddenly moved about five months ago.Kase has not been named as a suspect or a person of interest in Moonda's death.Police said they may soon offer a reward for information.
