After experiencing some bad weather in the Pacific, the MV Explorer was hit by a 50-foot wave that caused damage to the engines.

The ship was about 1,600 miles from its next scheduled stop in Honolulu.

Three crew members were injured by the wave when it broke through windows on the ship.

Two of the ship's four engines were knocked out, but spokesman Jim Lawrence said all four were back in operation Thursday afternoon.

Lawrence said everything is back to normal on the ship. Students are sleeping and resting, and classes are expected to resume Friday.

Weather conditions have improved slightly and are being monitored by the U.S. Coast Guard.
