Two people were stabbed in what police said was an extremely violent killing in Pittsburgh's Homewood section.

Alexander Anderson, 55, and Gilda Venson, 50, were found dead Tuesday morning at the home that Anderson had rented for years on Atwell Street, just off Lincoln Avenue.

"It's a very bloody crime scene. It's very dynamic," Lt. Kevin Kraus said. "It appears that both victims sustained multiple wounds."

Anderson and Venson had apparently been dating for some time, according to Venson's former co-workers at a bar on Frankstown Avenue.

Anderson's landlord, Joe Styles, said he visited the property to collect overdue rent Tuesday morning, but became suspicious when he saw blood and clothing on the front porch. He went to the back door and saw that a lock had been broken, so he called Pittsburgh police, who went in and found the bodies.

Cmdr. RaShall Brackney said there were signs of a struggle. One of the victims was found on the first floor, and the other body was upstairs.

Venson's family members, tearful and suspecting the worst, gathered outside while police investigated.

Police have not established a motive or named any suspects, but they do not believe a robbery was involved.
