'Baby Mary' To Get Proper Funeral

Police Rule Baby's Death A Homicide

POSTED: 7:50 a.m. EDT June 8, 2000

The Uniontown community is coming together to give a newborn baby a proper funeral.

The baby, called "Baby Mary" by residents, was found dead in a creek on Sunday.

People from all over the area have been leaving flowers and small toys near the site where the baby's body was found.

Local businesses have donated to help give "Baby Mary" a funeral and burial. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hawky Funeral Home in Uniontown.

Investigators say the baby was born alive and near full-term, and they are now calling her death a homicide. Police continue to search for the mother.
