A Northland woman was surprised but uninjured when the floor of her garage collapsed as she was pulling into her home Monday evening, Missouri television station KMBC reported.

The incident happened in the 3100 block of Northeast 56th Street. Pam Johnson was on a cell phone with her mother as she pulled her Ford F-150 pickup truck into the garage.

"All of a sudden, the floor just fell in," Johnson said.

The Fire Department responded to the scene, but there was little for them to do, KMBC reported. Johnson escaped the vehicle without injuries.

"Well, the door was open just a little bit. I tried ... I just kind of climbed out and stepped on the arm rest and got out," she said.

Firefighters said the garage collapsed because there wasn't enough backfill dirt to support it.

Members of a towing crew pulled Johnson's vehicle out of the garage.
