Allegheny County police have not decided whether to charge a boy who struck and killed his mother and injured his grandmother while driving the family's car Friday night.

The accident happened on Augusta Street in the Duquesne Heights section of Pittsburgh. See A Map Of The Area

City police Detective George Trosky said the women were standing near the car while the boy moved it from a parking space so his grandmother could drive it.

The boy's mother is identified as Kathy Chedwick, 38. She is the granddaughter of Porky Chedwick, a well-known former disc jockey on local radio.

Phyliss Lazarz, the boy's 63-year-old grandmother, was taken to Mercy Hospital. She remained in critical condition Monday.

Investigators think the child mistook the gas pedal for the brake.
