Joe DeNardo's Winter Forecast

Will this winter bring more snow to western Pennsylvania than usual? How cold will the temperatures be?

According to Channel 4 Action News chief meteorologist Joe DeNardo's annual forecast, the local 2003-04 winter season will be about 2 percent warmer than normal.

And, regarding snowfall, it will be above normal. The predicted total of 50.0 inches will be less than last year's 61.8 inches, but still greater than the normal amount of 40.6 inches. Most of the snow will likely fall in December and February.

Last winter was 8 percent colder than normal, while the 2001-02 winter was 10 percent warmer than normal.
