Investigators said they believe a space heater may have caused the fire that damaged a house in Pittsburgh's Brighton heights neighborhood Saturday morning.

The fire chief told WTAE Channel 4 Action News that the flames spread from the living room to an upstairs bedroom and eventually through the roof of the house on California Avenue.

Witnesses who called WTAE Channel 4 Action News at the time of the fire said smoke could be seen from the West End Bridge.

Some propane tanks behind the house were moved as a precaution. One person inside at the time got out safely.
