Pittsburgh police are investigating a shooting and a fatal hit-and-run in the Hill District overnight.

Investigators said officers were called to the area of Bedford Avenue at Watt Lane shortly after 10 p.m. Friday for a possible shooting.

Police said officers found Garry Bryant, 64, of Pittsburgh, on the ground in the 700 block of Watt Lane bleeding from the head. He was taken to UPMC Mercy in critical condition, but he later died while undergoing treatment.

While police investigated, authorities received another call that led to a shooting victim nearby. Officers were called to 2517 Chauncey Drive, where they found a 34-year-old man who was shot in his torso and arm, police said. He was taken to UPMC Mercy in critical but stable condition.

Investigators said it appears the victim was shot in the 2500 block of Bedford Avenue but fled to Chauncey Drive.

During the course of the investigation, witnesses at the shooting scene said they saw a red sport utility vehicle, which police said may have struck Bryant. An autopsy concluded that Bryant died as a result of blunt force trauma.

Police made no arrests Saturday.
