PITTSBURGH -- For many years the names Iron City and Rolling Rock dominated the Pittsburgh beer scene. While those names are still in the mix in the big box varieties, craft beers and international brews are giving beer drinkers more options.So in this beer-loving city of champions, where do Pittsburghers like to go for a tasty adult beverage?What do you think? Share your favorite places for a drink in the comments section at the end of this story.A new Web site is asking for users help to find the top choices.Channel 4 Action News Anchor Mike Clark took a look at five of the best beer joints in the 'burgh.Beer lovers don't worship their hops and barley at the Church Brew Works, but a lot of people said the ambiance makes for a heavenly experience."This is definitely a 'This place is great!' factor. So when people are in from out of town, this is one of the first places that people bring their relatives and friends from out of town. They come straight down to the church and say, 'You guys got to check this place out,'" said Brant Dubovick of the Church Brew Works.Another place, a relative newcomer to Pittsburgh, is making a splash with its original beer and its German beer hall ambience.The Hofbrauhaus makes Munich magic, celebrating Oktoberfest every day of the year."Every day you have big party. You sit together, you have the authentic German food, you have the beers from Munich, you have the entertainment with the German music," said Eckhard Kurbjuhn of the Hofbrauhaus. "You can have a party like the Oktoberfest."Fat Head's Saloon is recognized not only for the hundreds of beers available in a bottle and 42 fresh beers on tap, including their award-winning craft brews, but also for their bar food."You get a lot of bang for your buck. There's some big sandwich called 'the Headwich.' They're round, kind of look like a head. And there's some ingredients that most people just wouldn't put on a sandwich. And I guess that's what attracts people, maybe. And they get a nice, full belly when they're ready to pound a few beers," said Glenn Benigni of Fat Head's Saloon.Its all about selection at the Sharp Edge Beer Emporium. Of the 55 beers on tap, 27 are from Belgium and there's more than 300 varieties in all."You can come in here and hopefully you don't feel too overwhelmed by trying the different beers and seeing the different varieties. Because it can be a little overwhelming when you see 55 taps and you don't know what to pick. Hopefully the bartenders and the servers can get you in the right direction," said Jeff Walewski of the Sharp Edge Beer Emporium.Bring your GPS if you're heading to D's Six Pax and Dogz in Regent Square; you could get lost in the beer cave containing more than 1,000 beers."It's important to us to try to get every beer that we can available to us so that when you go somewhere there's no, like, 'Oh they didn't have that' or 'they didn't have that we really want.' To strike, to have every single beer that's out there. So we're going keep people looking, you know?
