Police were called to break up several after-school fights in Wilkinsburg on Thursday.

Police said nearly 200 people gathered at South and Swissvale avenues when a fight between two girls started at about 3 p.m.

Once officers stepped in to break things up, another scuffle began between two men -- an 18-year-old and a 20-year-old.

WTAE Channel 4 Action News’ Tara Edwards’ reported that police believe the two men, who were both arrested, may have been related to the two girls involved in the initial brawl.

The men were taken to the Wilkinsburg Police Department and cited for disorderly conduct.

Edwards also reported that as other scuffles broke out, an AK-47 was fired at one point, but no one was injured.
