"That was the intention, yes," Chad W. Dawson said Thursday.

Dawson, 32, told Channel 4 Action News reporter Sheldon Ingram that he never made it inside the woman's home on Dawson Drive because she arrived with her boyfriend.

"I heard a car coming. I noticed it was her boyfriend's van. I got scared and took off running," Dawson said.

Police said they found Dawson by following footprints in the snow to his home.

Dawson was charged with attempted burglary. He is free on bond as he awaits a hearing.

Dawson said he's embarrassed and will get counseling for what police said he told them is a fetish.

"May be on the sexual side. That's why I want to talk to the doctor about what kind of help I would need," he said.
