Two people were rescued from a fire at a pair of residential buildings in Derry Borough, Westmoreland County Thursday morning.

The victims were taken to a local hospital where, officials said, 60 year-old James Gamble later died.

There's no word on the condition of the second victim.

The fire started inside one of the buildings on North Chestnut Street at 2:30 a.m., dispatchers said.

Firefighters pulled two residents from the flames, emergency officials told Channel 4 Action News at the scene.

The fire was said to have occurred in two neighboring residential structures.

Reports said one of those buildings suffered a partial collapse due to the intensity of the flames.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
