A body was found in a creek in a remote, wooded area behind a Giant Eagle grocery store in New Kensington, Westmoreland County.

WTAE Channel 4's Tara Edwards reported that a man's body was face-down near a dirt road off Craigdell Road at about 1:30 p.m.

"We had two individuals checking a pipeline. This is a very rural, steep, snow-covered area. They were checking the pipeline, discovered the body and got a hold of 911," said New Kensington Police Chief Ronald Zellers. "We believe that the individual located has not been there more than 24 hours."

Authorities identified the man late Tuesday night as Gregory Veltri, 29, of Lower Burrell.

Edwards reported that foul play was not suspected in Veltri's death.

Local police and county detectives were called to the scene to investigate.

An autopsy to determine the cause of death is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
