A late-night fire ignited Monday at a house in Sharpsburg, prompting a large response from firefighters.

Allegheny County 911 officials told WTAE Channel 4 Action News that three people inside the house at 921 Clay St. escaped safely. A WTAE Channel 4 Action News crew at the scene reported that a firefighter rescued a man and his dog.

The fire ignited shortly after 10:45 p.m. and continued to rage for some time. Firefighters cut holes in the roof and brought in fans to ventilate the structure.

The fire marshal was called to the scene as the investigation continued.
