Police said an on-again, off-again boyfriend drunkenly showed up at a Bethel Park woman's house and ran over her husband with his car after seeing them together on Halloween night.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as 49-year-old John Pavlick. Police said the man was found dead at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday on Grey Fox Circle.

On Monday, Tracy Pavlick acknowledged that her marriage had its ups and downs, but she said that she and her husband -- who friends knew as "Jack" -- were working through it.

She called her husband "an absolute wonderful man," her voice trembling as she spoke with Channel 4 Action News reporter Marcie Cipriani.

"Jack was invincible, in my mind and a lot of people's minds," friend Jeff Valpenga said. "It would have almost seemed impossible. He was such a big guy and a strong-hearted guy, it's almost like it couldn't happen."

"He's a good friend to everyone around here, and we're really going to miss him. It stinks that this happened," friend Debbie Rapp said.

WTAE Channel 4's Ashlie Hardway reported that the Pavlicks started their Saturday night at Ann's Restaurant. While there, Tracy Pavlick -- who had filed for divorce last year -- saw 35-year-old Jason Kasper, a man whom she sometimes dated.

At some point, words were exchanged and the Pavlicks left, according to a criminal complaint obtained by WTAE Channel 4 Action News.

The criminal complaint states that when the Pavlicks and Kasper met again at the Warehouse Restaurant, the Pavlicks went home, where police said Kasper showed up later.

After being asked to leave, Jack Pavlick and Kasper got into a fight in the front yard. When Kasper went to leave, police said Jack Pavlick kicked the door and jumped on the hood of the car. The criminal complaint indicated that Kasper proceeded to drive but his foot got stuck and he ran Pavlick over.

Tracy Pavlick said the victim was not only a good husband and father, but also a great friend.

"I'd wake up, and someone would be sleeping on our couch," she said. "They had a bad night, and Jack would say, 'Let me make you breakfast.' He'll be missed."

Bethel Park police said Kasper was charged with criminal homicide, homicide by vehicle, homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence and DUI. He's being held in the county jail, awaiting a preliminary hearing.

Kasper's Prior History

Team 4 has discovered that the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas requested that PennDOT suspend Kasper's driver's license in August.

The court said Kasper failed to pay a $5,000 judgment from a 2006 traffic accident.

PennDOT did not say if Kasper's license was ever suspended.

Last month, state police charged Kasper with harassment for allegedly grabbing Tracy Pavlick by the face at a cabin in Westmoreland County.

Kasper also had two DUI convictions in the 1990s.
