This year's walk at the Penn State University campus in Fayette County was dedicated to Sam Hicks, who was shot and killed while attempting to serve a warrant at a house in Glenshaw.

Hicks has many ties to the Fayette County community, where his mother, sister and best friend showed up to say thanks.

"I think the example of Samuel's life is a wonderful reminder that you can have integrity," said Charlotte Carrabotta, Hicks' mother.

Sam Hicks is survived by his wife and 3-year-old son.
