PITTSBURGH -- Video footage of Michael Jackson's preparations for a series of comeback concerts have become
"Michael Jackson's This Is It" -- a documentary about the late pop star that opens worldwide at midnight Tuesday.
Many movie theaters in Pittsburgh and throughout western Pennsylvania are holding midnight showings of the new film.
Scroll down this page for a list of those theaters. The movie is culled from more than 100 hours of rehearsal footage, showing an enthusiastic "King of Pop" crafting his moves and performing some of his most beloved hits as he got ready for the concerts that were supposed to have begun in July.
Elizabeth Taylor, a longtime friend of Jackson, posted her thoughts about the new movie on Twitter: "It is the single most brilliant piece of filmmaking I have ever seen. It cements forever Michael's genius in every aspect of creativity."
The 77-year-old actress added that she "wept from pure joy at his God-given gift" and urged fans to see the film "again and again."
Jackson died on June 25 at age 50. The Los Angeles County coroner ruled the death a homicide, caused primarily by the powerful anesthetic propofol and another sedative. Jackson's personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, is the focus of a police investigation but has not been charged.
