2009 PITTSBURGH -- A public meeting was held in Pittsburgh's Greenfield neighborhood Thursday to discuss how the city should deal with abandoned properties on Ivondale Street.The street has been troubled for a decade, with a landslide forcing many residents to leave.An 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped inside one of the abandoned homes on the street in May.Previous Story: After Alleged Rape, City Pushes For Action On Abandoned HomesOn Thursday night, the girl's father spoke with Channel 4 Action News, saying the buildings serve as a constant reminder for"My daughter has to see this house every single day. That's a constant reminder to her of what happened here. I wanted the house torn down immediately. If I could've, I would've gone up and torn it done myself," said the girl's father.Pittsburgh City Council President Doug Shields was also on hand Thursday night, and says a final plan for the Ivondale area remains in the works.
