Greenfield Residents Mull Fate Of Troubled Neighborhood

11-Year-Old Allegedly Raped Inside Abandoned Home

A public meeting was held in Pittsburgh's Greenfield neighborhood Thursday to discuss how the city should deal with abandoned properties on Ivondale Street.

The street has been troubled for a decade, with a landslide forcing many residents to leave.

An 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped inside one of the abandoned homes on the street in May.

On Thursday night, the girl's father spoke with Channel 4 Action News, saying the buildings serve as a constant reminder for

"My daughter has to see this house every single day. That's a constant reminder to her of what happened here. I wanted the house torn down immediately. If I could've, I would've gone up and torn it done myself," said the girl's father.

Pittsburgh City Council President Doug Shields was also on hand Thursday night, and says a final plan for the Ivondale area remains in the works.
