A three-hour memorial run held Saturday raised money to help offset funeral expenses for Wyatt Smitsky, a 4-year-old boy who the coroner said drowned in a septic tank early last month.

Friends and even strangers converged at the Village Inn near Clinton at noon Saturday wanting to help. A three-hour motorcycle, car and truck ride honored Smitsky.

Proceeds from the ride and sales of bracelets will go toward Smitsky's funeral expenses and to the American Heart Foundation. Smitsky had a heart condition and his disappearance prompted an 18-hour search involving authorities and hundreds of volunteers.

Police have yet to rule whether Smitsky accidentally fell into the tank or whether his death was the result of criminal negligence. A judge in Beaver County has since awarded custody of Smitsky's two sisters to their grandparents for the time being.
