2009 NORTH BELLE VERNON, Pa. -- The owner of a bulldog that attacked a North Belle Vernon couple and their dogs last Friday is defending her animal, calling it a gentile puppy."He was just a big, beautiful puppy. I've never seen a dog with a better temperament than him," said Christine Grace.Grace said the death of her 100-pound bulldog Buster by a police officer's gun was too much."All the kids on the block used to stand like the ice cream man was coming when I was walking him, waiting for me to get to them so they could visit with Buster. That's the kind of dog he was. Everybody loved him," said Grace. In addition to Buster attacked John and Kim Gido and their malteses last week, the Fayette County SPCS reports the dog bit other animals twice over the summer."There was no stopping that dog. I thought, 'I'm going to die,'" said Kim Gido following the attack last week.Grace said Buster was scheduled to start professional training the day after the attack on the Gidos."The police chief shows up, pulls out his gun and says, 'If you get in my line of fire, I'll shoot you too.' He shot him right there, six inches from me -- he shot him," said Grace. Two days after Buster's death, grace received a report from the Pennsylvania Department of Health stating that Buster need to be quarantined for 10 days, but not destroyed.
