A pickup truck rounded a corner and plowed into a house in Shaler Township on Sunday morning, waking the residents.

Homeowner Jerry Bialek and his wife were sleeping at the time -- but not for long.

"We heard this loud boom, and she said, 'Something hit our house,' and the first thing I thought was (that it was) a plane. I jumped out of bed and ran to the window and seen (sic) something in my house," Bialek said.

The accident ripped out an air-conditioning unit, the gutters, a few bushes and a fence.

The driver took off and was later caught by Shaler police, officers said.

Last year, the Bialeks lost a mailbox in a similar accident.
