Neighbors Credited With Nabbing Burglary Suspects

Police Arrest 2 In Connection With Moon Township Burglaries

Police in Moon Township are crediting watchful residents for helping to arrest two men in connection with a series of burglaries.

Police said 21-year-old Shane Annesi and 21-year-old Justin Meyers committed at least eight burglaries in two days.

Annesi and Meyers would go door-to-door, knocking to see if the home was empty before entering, police said.

“I answered the door -- there was a young man and he asked for directions to Robinson Town Center,” said Fauad Bassilias.

That same question is what police said the men would ask each time.

Bassilias said the man wasn’t listening when he gave him directions, prompting residents’ suspicion.

He took the license plate number and called police, but investigators believe the men had already hit at least eight homes.

“It does alarm me that somebody would target this neighborhood because it is a quiet, close-knit community. I mean, everybody knows everybody. Just to have somebody getting in our inner circle is kind of alarming actually,” said Elaine Ressier.

Police applauded the community for working together to help solve the case, but residents cite the township’s Swift Reach alert system.

The system notifies residents and alerts them to be on the lookout.

Both Annesi and Meyers are facing burglary charges.
