Police in Adams Township said they've figured out the series of events that injured a woman found lying on the side of a Butler County road.

According to investigators, the incident started when the cap of a truck fell off on Three Degree Road on Wednesday night. Police said three people in the truck got out of the vehicle to replace it, but the driver backed up, slamming the pickup truck's door into the victim's head.

"I heard a big crash," said witness Brian Dore, who lives nearby.

The people involved put the 27-year-old woman, who was bleeding from her injury, into a car to take her to a friend's home, police said. But as they tried to move her, witnesses told police the woman started to have a seizure.

"He's like, 'Hey, dude, we got to get her off the street.' I'm like, 'What the hell's going on?' They're picking this girl up and shoving her in the back of the truck," said Dore.

As the group tried to turn around in a driveway, the truck got hung up on a rock and the four-wheel drive broke. Police said that's when the group took the victim out of the car.

"I go down with a flashlight and there's this big puddle of blood and the girl's shoes strewn all over the place," said Dore.

Dore called police and that's when the task of trying to unravel what exactly happened began.

Police said after hours of trying to piece everything together, the truck driver confessed.

"They made the turn too fast, the cap came off the pickup, they got out to look at it -- whenever the driver backed up, it caught the female and it knocked her to the ground," said Adams Township Police Chief William Westerman. "Then they put her in a pickup and tried getting her to a friend's house. In the meantime she had a seizure."

An ambulance took the woman to Allegheny General Hospital with cuts on her head.

Investigators said the woman wouldn't talk to them because she didn't want to get those involved in trouble.

Police said two men will be charged with alcohol-related offenses -- including the driver of the truck, who's facing DUI charges.

Additional charges may be filed after the investigation is finished, police said.

Neither of the suspects' names has been released yet.
