An anonymous e-mail tip is being credited for leading sheriff's deputies to a McKees Rocks mother and son fugitive team on Allegheny County's "Most Wanted" list.

Sheriff William P. Mullen said Michael James Hirschfield and his mother, Tammy Hirschfield, were found Tuesday along a trail in Clarion County sleeping inside a silver Jeep that had been reported stolen by a Ross Township police officer a month earlier.

An anonymous e-mail tip Monday night initially led police to an address in Clarion County where both Hirschfields were believed to be staying.

Two warrants had been issued for Michael Hirschfield -- the first for violating conditions of his probation/parole from a 2007 conviction on firearms charges, police said.

A second warrant accusing him of firing a gun into a Stowe Township home with three people inside in April was also issued.

Tammy Hirschfield

Tammy Hirschfield was wanted after she failed to appear in court last week on aggravated assault charges from an incident in McKees Rocks in 2006.

Michael Hirschfield has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault, three counts of recklessly endangering another person, discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure and carrying a firearm without a license.

Police said he will also be charged with receiving stolen property in Clarion County.

Both Hirschfields are being held in the Allegheny County Jail without bond.
