A Seton Hill University student will serve five to 23 months in jail for grabbing a police officer's Taser gun and shooting her with it while she was trying to arrest him.

Jeremy Spisak, 20, of McDonald, pleaded no contest in January to disarming a law enforcement officer and other charges.

Greensburg police say Spisak took the Taser from Officer Regina Depelligrin when she responded to a reported break-in at Seton Hill University in March of 2008.

Police said the officer fought back against Spisak on Concord Avenue for several minutes before two other students, Mike Powers and Justin Yeager, stepped in.

For more than three minutes, police said Spisak kicked, punched, choked and used a Taser on Depellegrin. Police said she fought back, but Spisak wouldn’t give up, so the students jumped in to help, punching and pushing him to the ground.
