Family members on both sides of a teenage Penn Hills double-homicide case had words outside the suspect's preliminary hearing and were separated by Allegheny County Sheriff's deputies on Wednesday afternoon.

County police said Keith Scott, 41, beat his girlfriend's children -- Naim Drake, 14, and Ieisha Drake, 18 -- with a dumbbell in their Relative Drive home in October.

Naim Drake also was stabbed several times, and the children's mother, Nikesha Warren, was stabbed and critically wounded but survived.

"My client constantly said one thing -- that 'I don't really remember anything that went on,'" defense attorney Jim Ecker said.

A neighbor told Channel 4 Action News that a friend of Warren's -- concerned when the woman didn't show up for work -- broke into the house and found Warren and the two children.

On Wednesday, county homicide Detective Patrick Miller testified that Scott told him he got a phone call from a man who claimed Warren had been unfaithful, so Scott became angry and beat Warren with the dumbbell and killed her children.

Scott killed Ieisha Drake first, then waited for Naim Drake to come home from school and killed him too, Miller testified.

Police have not discussed a possible motive for the killings. The prosecutor on the case declined to comment to reporters after Scott's hearing.

Ecker said Scott only recalls being in the house and knowing that Warren was badly hurt and her children were dead.

In addition to homicide, Scott is charged with aggravated assault and attempted homicide. He was ordered to stand trial at a later date and was returned to the county jail after his hearing in Municipal Court downtown.
